It’s my first time that I’m writing a book review! I don’t know what it takes to write it (I might be a reader but I’m not so good in explaining what a professional author is trying to communicate) but after reading this book, I wanted to pay my tribute and I thought maybe I should write about it because it’s the only way I can pay my respect and love for what I have just finished reading. ![]() ![]() Which you consider more likely is your own interpretation.Įventually Lowry wrote additional books in the series, where Jonas has clearly lived. ![]() Either they found a haven, or they died you don't know for certain. It's also possible that there's nothing there, and this is Jonas's final, comforting delusion immediately before collapse. It's possible that he does see, or hear, something, and is responding to it deliriously. So a lot of Jonas's certainty and excitement here are entirely unreliable. Similarly, his sudden certainty that "they were waiting for him and they were waiting, too, for the baby" is obviously not a rational one - even if it is true, Jonas has no way of knowing it. The "sense that he heard music behind him" - probably impossible - "but perhaps it was only an echo" is a fairly strong implication that Jonas cannot really tell what he is seeing or hearing. However, in Jonas's weakened state, this vision is not entirely reliable - and elements of the paragraph make him less reliable yet. ![]() He and Gabe slide down through the snow to them, in the hopes that they will reach the community on time, be taken in, and nursed back to health. Legendary friends in eighth-century T’ang China, Li Po and Tu Fu are traditionally celebrated as the two greatest poets in the Chinese canon. He wrote 1200 years ago, half a world away, but in his poems we see our world transformed. However ethereal in spirit, his poems remain grounded in the everyday experience we all share. There is a set-phrase in Chinese referring to the phenomenon of Li Po: “Winds of the immortals, bones of the Tao.” He moved through this world with an unearthly freedom from attachment, and at the same time belonged profoundly to the earth and its process of change. His work is suffused with Taoism and Ch’an (Zen) Buddhism, but these seem not so much spiritual influences as the inborn form of his life. Li Po (A.D., 701-762) lived in T’ang Dynasty China, but his influence has spanned the centuries: the pure lyricism of his poems has awed readers in China and Japan for over a millennium, and through Ezra Pound’s translations, Li Po became central to the modernist revolution in the West. ![]() ![]() ![]() This book, Lock & Mori, lays a foundation for what is to come with the trilogy. The official summary describes this trilogy is being intended to show why thereâs animosity between Sherlock and Moriarty. There is a bit of violence in it and Mori’s father is definitely a force to contend with in her life, but Lock and Mori try very hard to never lose hope that they can in fact prevail as long as their intentions and resolve are strong enough. Petty places a modern spin on the story of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is impressive in his deductions and observations as always and it’s refreshing to see a different take on the character of Moriarty. ![]() This is a fun mystery story for fans of mystery fiction and TV shows.
